Our Purpose

New York Institute for Biblical Studies exists to equip followers of Jesus Christ for ministry in the 21st century. Our two-year curriculum and certificate program is designed to provide students with a basic survey of both the Old and New Testament Scriptures (Genesis – Revelation) as well as all major doctrines of the Scriptures (The Doctrine of God through the Doctrine of Last Things).

In addition, students will be asked to choose at least one area of specialization in which they would like to increase their skill (ex. Advanced Biblical Studies, Christian Life & Witness, Church Ministry, Counseling, Life Coaching, Multi-Disciplinary Studies). Students will then study coursework that will help build or enhance their knowledge and use of that specific skill set.

A Word from our Founder

For the past twenty years I traveled nearly every week to Manhattan to teach at a Bible School in Midtown. Although I
greatly enjoyed ministering there, I always felt the desire to offer a similar experience here on Staten Island. After much prayer and consultation, I am excited to announce the establishment of New York Institute for Biblical Studies.

Beginning in the fall of 2012, Calvary Chapel founded New York Institute for Biblical Studies on Staten Island. Our purpose is quite simple. We desire to equip followers of Jesus Christ with the Biblical Foundations and specific skills to minister in our borough, our city and our world in the 21st century. To that end, we are offering an exciting curriculum with a well-qualified faculty.

If you have a desire to increase your knowledge and understanding of the Bible, or you want to become better trained in a specific ministry area ….New York Institute for Biblical Studies is here for you.

I look forward to seeing how God will use His Word to make a difference in the lives of our students, and how our students will use His Word to make a difference on Staten Island and beyond.

Pastor Dave Watson, President
